8 Less known ways to relieve a cough

Most of the time the cough is not a serious symptom and it can be relieved with some home remedies. Cold and flu are the most common causes of cough .

These viruses inflame and irritate the upper respiratory tract and most often produce mucus.

If your cough is productive , do not try to stop it because the organism is getting rid of the mucus by this means. If the cough is dry you will want to relieve the throat and tingling.

 

Relieve cough, not eliminate it

However uncomfortable the cough is, it is not advisable to stop it altogether. Cough is a defense of the immune system to expel microbes, dust, chemicals and other irritants . In other cases it also serves to remove foreign objects such as food particles or liquids that have left the “wrong place”.

Before treating a cough, the cause should be considered. If it is due to an allergy, the allergen should be removed and the cough will be relieved. But if it is for a virus like the cold, you should not try to suppress the cough at all. Cut fresh ginger into small slices and crush them slightly. Put them in a cup of water and bring to a boil. Drink this herbal solution three to four times a day for relief from sore throat, non-stop coughing and even congestion. You can also some lemon juice and honey to it.

Another option is to chew fresh raw ginger on and off throughout the day to reduce your cough.
