Many people struggle to lose weight, although it isn’t that hard if you put your heart and mind into it. There might be a million articles on internet which give “tips” to lose weight, but do you know there are some simple rules you need to follow for having weight loss?
You might have seen people losing weight and then wondered, “When would that be me?” Don’t worry, here are the guidelines you must go by, to achieve a healthy weight for yourself.
RULE NO.1 – EAT LESSER AMOUNT OF CALORIES.
Start counting the calories that you are taking. You should take about 500 calories lesser than what you consume in your daily activity. For an average person, it is said that they should eat about 1200 to 1500 calories a day, depending on the level of exercise they do. Even if you have a slow metabolism, taking lesser calories would show results within two weeks.
RULE NO.2 – SCALES DON’T ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH.
When you start working out, it doesn’t mean that a lot of weight would bounce off the scale right away. Rather, you would start noticing change in your looks. Your muscles would start toning. It is because the weight shifts to the parts of the body that makes you look good. Stand in front of the mirror and notice how your arms are toning and your face muscles have lighten, even though the weight might be almost same on the scale.
RULE NO.3 – WEIGHT TRAINING IS NECESSARY.
If you want lean muscles, weight training is what you must adopt. You can’t rely on cardio to get that perfect body shape, even though you will get lighter body. Make yourself sweat in the gym and follow the instructions of your trainer and don’t shy away from using weights.
RULE NO.4 – MORNING EXERCISES WORK BEST.
If you work out on an empty stomach, early in the morning, it would bring results pretty quickly. Glycogen is consumed throughout the night and in the morning, only fat is consumed for having energy. You can also let your muscles recover the rest of the day by following the usual routine. If you don’t have time, spare out at least 10 minutes for aerobic activities.
RULE NO.5 – HAVE SMALL MEALS.
Cut the portions from your plate and it would help you lose weight. You don’t want to slow down your metabolism and thus, you should have food 4-5 times throughout the day, but a lot less in quantity. Smaller portions of healthy meals would include proteins, carbohydrates and fats and it would be a perfect balance to keep your insulin levels at normal.
RULE NO.6 – DRINK LOTS OF WATER.
Internet is not lying when it asks you to drink 8-10 glasses of water in a day. Water will make you feel fuller and also improve your metabolism, which in turn paces up the weight loss. You can download water drinking reminder apps and thus, have enough water throughout the day. Any other drink will have calories and thus, only water is the best suited drink.
RULE NO.7 – CHOOSE YOUR MEALS, BEFORE YOU EAT THEM.
You can decide what you will eat at your lunch hour or snack time, before you go ahead and buy some junk food from the closest outlet. If you have menu planned in head, it is more likely that you won’t pick up any other food.
RULE NO.8 – GO TO BED EARLY.
Have dinner at least three hours before you go to bed and have at-least seven to nine hours of sleep. Otherwise, your body induces the hormones which help in storing the fat cells, which you obviously don’t want!!
